For this write up. I captured two women out shopping who I thought captured the Fall trends.
First let's evaluate the looks:
Here is a pretty blond just coming out from meeting friends for coffee. She has a black leather coat, a black lace dress with a conservative length but almost mini. Mini length skirts are the trend for length in many skirts. She accessorized the dress with black boots. Her necklace of gold chains layered is also a style I've seen in many stores. It's conservative in going with black and not mixing other colors but the overall effect is beautiful.
Next I chose a trend opposite from the above in style:
This beautiful girl is right on trend for urban street wear. Ripped leggings, Harley tee, mesh metal purse and leopard boots. Her floral blouse over the shirt is also a trend in that the fabric is sheer with kimono like sleeves.

Two Window Displays
For this weeks post, I wanted to highlight two window displays for Fall which show current trends with their mannequins.
This beautiful display shows many trends. The colors of gray, black and two shades of orange, are all trend colors. I will analyze the mannequins from left to right. First, we have a fur coat in gray with a burnt orange blouse and gray skirt, a great fall color palette. Then, the black dress with a fitted silhouette is very simple but elegant and black is a neutral color so you can accessorize this dress with pretty much any color. The plaid pullover with black pants is a very classy look. The gray, purple and taupe plaid sweater blend perfectly in their color values. The fourth mannequin is my favorite. I love the draped tiered collar in gray suede paired with gray leggings and a brown leather belt to accessorize. Suede is also seen in the darling ankle boot in the first mannequin and the chocolate brown purse in the second mannequin. I love the Indian fur purse adjacent to the second model in fur and leather. The Indian trend is a micro trend and I have noticed it on brooches, dresses and purses. It has a very nice Fall touch. Then we have the over sized copper leather purse with pleating. The last thing is a gold metallic evening bag. Metallic is also a trend.
'
The next window display is all about the boots:
Boots are everywhere in all colors and styles and I saw them in most store displays. I have seen lace up type boot in other stores in various styles and lengths; some are refined and some are rugged. The top lace up boot in this display in brown leather captures this rugged style boot with its bands across the ankle giving it a bit of a military look but it also has the English equestrian trend as well. I think it is very stylish and a cool boot that I would love to own. Then we have two traditional boots. First a brown leather ankle boot with a wide cuff. I've noticed a lot of the sweaters have a wide shawl collar and this boot would tie in perfect with those sweaters. The high heeled black boot is a staple for any women who owns boots. I know many women who own several pairs of black boots since black is a neutral color. I feel black is more of a winter shade and brown a fall shade, but a lot of women feel comfortable with black and wear it all year long. The ankle boot to the left of the black boot is very stylized: it has a gathered look at the top, a tab, a zipper and a trend color taupe. It looks like suede and has a army theme feel to it.

With the jewelry I tried to bring what I thought Bohemian means to me: different metals, different colors, different patterns with no set look. It doesn't apply to a code. It is freeing in it's style. Although, I chose a couple expensive jewelry pieces for the look, I could of completely styled this in other pieces that were less costly and just as effective. This is why I feel the appeal is so popular now. The outfit breaks all price points and works. I love the opposite juxtaposition of the two styles: classic and bohemian. Classic has definite guidelines and bohemian doesn't but together they make a beautiful ensemble. | ||||

You don't say
This brief write-up concerns Coco Chanel, a designer I think many of us loved for her style, her wit, her outspokenness, and her flawless work.
A particular quote of hers that I like is: “Success is often achieved by those who don't know that failure is inevitable.”
I think this speaks volumes about perseverance. Today, so many businesses fail due to the current economy and yet as a designer you have to believe in your product. Failure in business has happened to many but yet they still persevere and then become successful. Fear of failure is with everyone and no one wants their business to fail. However, if you don't ever try in spite of the odds you will never have the satisfaction to have achieved the happiness of success in whatever size, form or shape it can take on.

Spring Trends for 2011
Hello there! Today I am writing about current trends for the upcoming Spring, 2011 and I am tracking just one designer. It was difficult to pick one designer as there are so many good designers to choose from
However, I finally decided upon this collection because I love it! It is none other than Dolce & Gabanna. I am going to point out trends they utilize in this upcoming collection.
The first trend is so new it is going to be interesting to watch because it's appeal may only apply to a certain amount of women. However, Dolce & Gabbana present this trend in a beautiful and tasteful approach. The trend is Lingerie as to be worn as outer garments. It is a bit controversial, definitely artsy and how well the public will embrace this remains to be seen. It will take the test of time. A true trend lasts around 2 years or a bit more or otherwise it could peak early and become a Fad. The choice of Fabrics is going to be a selling point for me because even if it is Spring and it goes into Summer. I would not wear any Lingerie outer garments that wouldn't breathe unless it is natural fabrics. The humidity on the East Coast is enough not to wear this if it is a synthetic. No worries for Dolce & Gabbana as they use the best natural fabrics but the knockoffs will soon follow.
Some other designers are a bit racy with lingerie but Dolce & Gabbana effortlessly present this gorgeous piece and the color white is a spring trend color but it is also a staple that is used in Spring because it works.
Pictured below is a white lace-up lace lingerie as outerwear blouse and skirt. Dolce & Gabbana utilize four trends (minimum) into this one look: First they use the lingerie trend, second they use the lace trend, third they use white as a trend color and fourth they accessorize the model with clogs which is also an upcoming shoe trend.
This outfit is darling and also ladylike. Ladylike is another trend and I'm not sure if they were incorporating that trend as well. That would be five trends in one look. Parts of the design are sheer at the waist but not too sheer. Sheer is another trend and obviously sheer and lingerie go together like hand in glove. It's obvious why Dolce & Gabanna are so successful, they are gifted at their craft!

The next picture Dolce & Gabbana use below is the ever popular animal print trend incorporated with white in the design with the ladylike trend as well. Unless, you are completely confident as designers the values of white and leopard print do not match and yet it is a blend that completely works. They accessorized the purse in black another trend color. The skirt is full and captures yet another trend, the full skirt. The models dark hair and olive skin work perfect for this outfit. It is so beautiful and terrrrrific! Okay, there used to be an old commercial for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes back in the day and Tony the Tiger would say, "it's Terrrrrific!"
The next picture shows yet another beautful ensemble utilizing the latest trends. I am going to say that although I haven't read it but by my observation is that this beautiful shade of blue will be a trend color. They utilize this blue/gray shade in a short cropped jacket which is also a trend. They utilize the previously other mentioned trends of lace, sheer and white. It is a cocktail trend but presented in the most beautiful manner. The cut-out lace I have seen in person in Venice is exquisite. This is absolutely stunning! I love the blue embroidery detailing on this jacket. The last thing I want to comment upon is the silhouette. The silhouette of all of the skirts are minis, the blouse are fitted as well. This goes along with yet another trend the 60's. Dolce & Gabanna are brilliant!

Two influential Trendsetters
Today I am writing about two people I believe who are influencing Fashion trends by wearing clothes, accessories and even hair styles.
I am sorry to say I have never watched, Gossip Girl, but I hear it is a really cute show and I am now very aware of the show's star, Blake Lively. While in NYC for the first time last summer with my best friend Laurel we were walking around the streets one night and came upon this darling house with twinkle lights which was just beautiful to behold. Laurel said, "I am pretty sure that is the house they use for Gossip Girl." I said, "Oh, I have never watched the show so I wouldn't know." Now, I didn't say it with a tone (like I don't like that show) but I just didn't know. A lady with her daughter overheard our conversation and she came over and practically bursting and said, "I overheard that, and oh yes, that is definitely the house!!" I thought this lady, like Laurel, is obviously a huge fan of the show. I then made a mental note to check the Gossip Girl out sometime.
This is why I have picked her as one of my trendsetters. Blake Lively is definitely the 'it girl', the muse, the inspiration! Not only is she beautiful and just happens to have the height and figure like a model but knowing little about her I was impressed. I did a little research on her and I like what I see. She has an uncanny sense of fashion. She loves the same designers I do, Chanel & Dior, and she said she loves fashion and gets so excited just by going to designer shows. On top of that she is humble and gracious.
So why wouldn't the designers draw near to her. The girl has class and is a good role model. Anna Wintour loves her! She has graced Vogue twice and with such a beautiful body she can make any designers clothes look good. I would definitely hire her for my brand well that is if I had a brand and I could afford her. Recently Christian Louboutin styled a pair of pumps in her honor, Blake demurely responded, "I am honored". Mr. Louboutin is a pretty savvy businessman, and yes, he is enamoured with her, yet he is a businessman first and not going to miss out on Blake's popularity and style.
Below, I will comment on a few current fashion trends influenced by Blake Lively. The first is the shoes mentioned above, and she has got the foot fashion down. The pumps designed for her are a classic high heeled black pump with a 4" stiletto heel in beautiful patton leather. They are so chic! I just have to say my husband has a customer who signs all her salutations with her name, position, company and a quote, "shoe love is true love!" (An adorable quote and yes, I agree!) Incidentally, the first picture has Blair in a romper which also is somewhat of a trend.
Blake Lively was spotted again wearingChristian Louboutin black pumps with a Vena Cava Sarcophagus Romperto MTV’s TRL on August 5th, 2008. We’ve had a hard time finding the highly sought after Louboutin pumps, so have resorted to eBay…
Photos courtesy of Fashionfirst.com
Then there are the boots, and yes Fashionistas, Fall Fashion dictates Boots. I will show you Blakes boot and then the boot that I think is even better (in fact to die for!!!!)
Blake Lively (aka Serena on Gossip Girl) picked up a pair of Chinese Laundry Strate Boots in ash grey from DSW and wore them on every episode last season! They have since become all the rage!
Pictures and descriptions above and below Courtesy of Fashion First.com..
These boots are a variation of the above. I love the darker gray shade (I feel the shade is more suited for Fall/Winter), the suede to me has more sheen with the over the knee fit and oh yes, the heel! These are gorgeous! Let's face it some of us aren't as tall as Blake and could use a little lift.
The well-known red outsole and high heel both shaped the distinctive features of Christian Louboutin
The last thing I will show from Blake is this beautiful Fall color trend which I particularly love, Gray, black and white. The gray double breasted trench coat by Philip Lim is fantastic. It's not to say you can't accessorize with other colors which she does with taupe and beige (another trend color) but this look is right on. Love the plaid tights with just enough beige to blend with her purse and hair color. Nice touch Blake!
Kate Moss for British Vogue - September 2010 Cover
This, my dearest friends, is Kate Moss' 30th cover for British Vogue.

It's her sixth September cover. Previously, Kate's been on the September 2000, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2009 issues of the magazine.
Photo above courtesy of bryanboy.com; photo below courtesy of whosdatedwho.com/Fashion
Below I found Kate all dolled up in a sexy look. Kate is Rock n Roll Royalty, she has a sense of punk and loves to wear black leggings, lace up boots, a knit tee and a leather jacket. All in black except for the tee where she'll wear white or ecru. She is an icon for fashion for this generation just as the Beatles were fashion icons in their generation. She purrs with her tossled hair and make-up looking so catlike. I don't mean that derogatory in any sense, but tell me can you say MEOW!! Her asymmetrical dress is a trend now in minis and for formal events in full length. Kate does have beautiful legs and a definite sexy style which women love to emulate because she embodies the word, cool!. She is cool and her influence is beyond measure right now. She even says she is going to be good and not party so much. I just don't know how she does it. Staying up late burning the candle at both ends and still looking so good. If it was me, I think they would have to photoshop out the dark circles (maybe they do?). This model is very blessed with good genetics, and yet, as famous as she is, she is relatively low key and just goes about her business. She carries herself well and I don't recall ever hearing of her being a prima donna. Maybe, that is why she has graced the cover of Vogue over 30 times. She's a professional and it shows. Bravo, Kate.
There you have this edition of the connecting thread. Can you guess what it is? Hmmmm....models, beautiful women that have grace as well as beauty and both are solid professionals that even if they get stressed out they are too cool to ever say anything harsh to the papparazzi. At least I haven't heard anything. That's why I like them, their style, their persona and if I did happen to walk by one of them I would probably just smile and keep walking. I know I like my privacy and I am not famous but these girls definitely have grace under pressure.
My next influential trendsetter is none other than Kate Moss. Kate has been a model for some time and has lived out many of her problems famously across the tabloid front pages. Let's see ... her love interests, her breakups, her hard partying life style, etc. For better or worse, I do feel this is what identifies Kate to the public. Her vulnerability and humanity shine through and connect us and make us feel that even a rich, beautiful successful model like Kate still has issues just like everyone else. Her honesty comes across and she just smiles and you feel her pain, but it just endears her even more to the public.
Now, let's evaluate some fashion. Below I particularly love navy. This past summer I was going to the stores before they put navy out. I was inquiring when were the navy garments coming, and the salespeople told me, "soon." As I patiently waited for my navy to come, it was like waiting for ice cream when you have a craving and you can't wait to indulge. So needless to say, I love the navy military trend coat that Kate is wearing on the recent British Vogue cover. It is Burberry, and the coat's detailing is perfect. It nails the military trend with its gold brassy buttons, epaulettes and notch collar.

The Newest must have e-gadget and accessory
The newest fashionable e-trend is the Apple Ipad. Prices range from $500-$800. You can read books (increasing the font size to bigger sizes), it has a media viewer, a web browser and other applications. Now designers are jumping on board to create cases for the beautiful notebook sized computer. In the ever present changing dynamics of fashion, the I pad will always keep you on track. First to come out is Louis Vuitton's Ipad case featured below in his signature brown and beige colors. The next designer to follow quickly is Gucci in his black textured case. The black case I feel has a more universal appeal for both sexes. Some men just want a more business look for their sheath and go with the black. This trend is going to be copied by many other designers and if they do then they should move quickly because I can quickly see the I Pad and the Sheaths topping the Christmas lists for 2010.
