Raincoats

Here is an example from the new arrivals at Kate Spade:

Product description: A 90% Co and 10% silk mustard yellow raincoat with welt pockets.  The jacket has raglan sleeves with decorative belt tab detailing.  Also, included is a inverted pleat on the back seam.  The lining is a charcoal-faille rose print and the embroidered phrase, "every cloud has a silver lining" at the back of the neck.  The price tag is a mere $525.00

My critique:
I love Kate Spade's style, it is fun, chic and definitely fashionable.  Can I afford Kate Spade in this economy, well no.  However, it is a darling jacket.  Yellow is a iffy color for a lot of women.  Sometimes the shade against your skin tone makes all the difference.  I think bolder yellows fare better than weaker yellows for myself.  The fabric breathes with cotton and silk but I don't know if there is a finish to make the water repel in actual rain?  You might look fashionable cute during a downpour but will the jacket still be dry?  I have my doubts.  I haven't seen the jacket in person but the choice of a charcoal-faille rose print with the whimsical words embroidered, "every cloud has a silver lining" is just down right irresistible.  For women who don't have to worry too much about the budget (if I was one of them), I would slip on over to Kate Spade and pick up this jacket and call it my indulgence, "that I just had to have!".  Yet, in the real world I will continue to just look for now.
